Built on Deep Experience

mimicry emerged from a fundamental question: Why do legacy modernization projects fail so often?

Our team brings decades of enterprise IT experience - from strategy consulting to managing mission-critical systems. This hands-on experience, combined with teaching industry practitioners and technology students at ETH Zurich, gave us both the technical depth and the perspective to see why traditional approaches fall short.

We explored conventional solutions - static analysis, documentation reconstruction - and understood their fundamental limitation: they try to understand systems through implementation details rather than actual behavior.

Starting in 2017, we developed an entirely different approach in collaboration with engineers from major enterprises: observe what systems do across thousands to millions of transactions, and derive business logic from behavior rather than code.

The result:
